Itinerary
We like to get up close and personal with our four-legged friends. That’s why we do half of this safari on foot. We start in Arusha, Tanzania then visit Lake Manyara with it’s nearly 400 species, including baboons and blue monkeys. Next is Ngorongoro Crater and the 8,300 square kilometer Conservation Area — the world’s largest volcanic caldera and an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals. The crater itself is 260 square kilometers and is home to wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, lions, hyenas, jackals, and elephants, among other animals.

During the week, we will take game drives in the Serengeti National Park in custom designed 4x4s. Once inside, we begin our 3 days of hiking into the park directed by armed Parks and Frontier Guides — with our simple but comfortable camp, tents, food, and gear moved by our crew. Inside, we’ll explore the remarkable ecosystem around the Serengeti Wilderness Camp within the 15,000 square kilometers of Africa’s most famous game reserve. Serengeti is renowned for its dense predator population and annual wildebeest migration, yet also contains zebra, gazelle, impala, giraffe, warthogs, and other species.

We conclude with a full-day game drive in the Serengeti and overnight at the Wilderness camp before returning to Arusha. The entire trip is Adventurati-style — an amazing group of young, active, adventurers having the time of our life — in the expert hands of premier safari outfitter Extraordinary Journeys Africa.
